The beginning of learning / El comienzo del aprendizaje

I spoke with Ashwin a while ago, and I am now feeling bewildered, intrigued and a little worried... There is so much that I still don´t understand about how to do the work we are trying to do!

As he and the members of the orchestra go about their business in India, in the middle of the day, I sit in my apartment in Mexico, in the middle of the night. The city is very quiet. I try to open my ears all the way to India, to embrace a kind of music and sensibiity that seems both new and familiar to me, in so many ways... I feel like I am going back the beginning. I feel I am beginning to learn a new language, a new world.

Hablé con Ashwin hace un rato, y ahora me siento perpleja, intrigada y un poco preocupada... ¡Hay tanto que no entiendo acerca de cómo hacer el trabajo que estamos tratando de hacer!

Mientras él y los miembros de la orquesta atienden sus asuntos en la mitad del día, allá, en India, yo estoy sentada en mi apartamento en México, a medianoche. La ciudad está muy callada. Trato de abrir mis oídos hasta la India, para abrazar una clase de música y una sensibilidad que me parecen, en tantos sentidos, nuevos y familiares al mismo tiempo... Siento que estoy volviendo al comienzo. Me siento como si estuviera empezando a aprender un nuevo lenguaje, un nuevo mundo.
